NASA Oil SpillFor this episode, our class worked in teams to research various aspects of the oil spill that happened in the Gulf of Mexico.  Research topics include the following: background information; history of the Exxon Valdez oil spill; the environmental impact and other impacts of the oil spill; how the oil spill will be cleaned-up; and an answer to the question, “Could an oil spill like this happen in Canada?”

We hope to publish a special video podcast version of this episode.  Stay tuned!

Congratulations on a fine episode. I thought the narration was very well done, as well as the research. I am not sure that we understand just how devastating the spill will end up being. It is an interesting Math problem: How much money would have been spent putting more safeguards in place (like relief wells) than is going to be spent cleaning up and is going to be lost by the fishing, tourism and other industries?
